My dad was football manager and both my brothers played so i used to tag along and go football training as a child and I spent 8yrs as the only female in a male boxing gym (this was big news at the time as women didn’t do boxing back then). So you see from a young age I always trained with and compared myself to the boys ?
I only started riding a few years ago as i kept getting running injuries but set myself the challenge of 4 Duathlons for my 40th birthday… and as it turned out, I was ok at multi sport 😉 Not many people know that in my first GB outing I crashed and snapped 2 front forks, less than 3mins into the bike course it was race over.. so to come back next race and win Gold at the 2014 ITU World Duathlon Champs was pretty special.
Don’t tell anyone but I’m completely clueless about bikes, everything is a thingy… but I am getting faster and wouldn’t be seen dead without matching nail varnish to kit… #debbiesrules
After an awesome 2015 season this year is all about going longer – moving up from sprint to standard distance Duathlon (10k run/42k bike/5k run) and I couldn’t be more excited.. With Matt’s help and support this is definitely just the start of my journey.
